What does it mean to be on the cusp of adulthood in America today? Witness a symphonic portrait of a new generation in the world premiere of “Seventeen,” music composed by Ron Ramin, libretto by Portia Kamons , with narration directed by Jamie Bernstein. Inspired by the civic engagement of young Americans and narrated in their own words, this four-movement piece conveys the recent experiences of young Americans as they confront an unprecedented range of challenges, from gun violence to climate change. Featuring a libretto of verbatim text from interviews with young activists, “Seventeen” speaks powerfully to their generation’s spirit and determination.

Hear the piece for the very first time and then attend a special Q&A after the performance with the creators of the work, as well as Music Director Eric Jacobsen and others involved in the project.
