Happening in Judson’s Live – Dr. Phillips Center’s newest and most intimate music room.
Pop. Clink. Jam. Our Judson’s Live Brunch Series is part of a weekend well-lived. A mouthwatering menu meets top-shelf performances by musical masters of all genres – from Latin to jazz, bluegrass to R&B. Themes and artists change with every event, and no two weekends are ever the same.

ABOUT THE BRUNCH EXPERIENCE

With a curated menu inspired by the arts center’s executive chef, Jason Klingensmith, your ticket to this two-hour brunch includes a selection of made-to-order dishes, plus access to our specialty serving stations. Juice, milk and coffee are included, while alcohol and signature drinks are available for purchase. The weekend’s menu features flavorful Latin favorites playing a perfect counter-melody to the music on stage.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Internationally acclaimed Cuban jazz pianist Alfredo Rodriguez began playing with and arranging for his father's orchestra at the age of 14. He eventually studied at Cuba's prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte, where he won several musical competitions.

In 2006, Rodriguez was invited to represent Cuba at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where he impressed the legendary record producer, Quincy Jones, who extended an invitation to work together in the U.S. Pursuing this opportunity meant leaving his family behind and embarking on a journey that would require relinquishing his Cuban citizenship.

The young pianist was quick to wow critics and club-goers. He toured as an opener for a number of jazz and pop artists, and played not only Montreux again, but also the Playboy, Detroit, Newport, San Francisco, North Sea, Umbria and Vienna Jazz Festivals, and in prestigious jazz clubs including Ronnie Scott’s, Yoshi’s and The Blue Note.

Rodriguez has since achieved remarkable success in his own right, playing prestigious stages worldwide and earning a Grammy nomination for his track “Guantanamera” from the album The Invasion Parade. Rodriguez’s ability to “play stories” on the keys allows him to connect with his listeners on a deeply personal level.

His albums, including The Invasion Parade, Tocororo and Duologue, reflect Rodriguez’s memories of Cuba, his experiences as an immigrant and his journey of self-discovery through music. He’s been featured by All Things Considered, Downbeat, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal among many others, and performed for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concerts. He continues to share his music along with his impactful message of perseverance and cross culturalization.
